An Italian farmer plowing a field near the small town of Umbria, central part of the country when he found under the plow some emptiness. Arrived at the place of discovery, archaeologists quite quickly realized. The Etruscans, it is one of the most mysterious people in the European culture. The flowering of their culture began about 900 BC and lasted for nearly five centuries.
The Etruscans are famous for their art, they were good farmers, able to skillfully handle the metals and shunned trade with other nations. That is why their culture is heavily influenced by its neighbors. Perhaps they brought wine to the territory of modern France and teach the Romans to build their famous road.
However, neighbors, and probably caused the extinction of the Etruscans. The growing influence of Rome coincided with the decline of the mysterious culture. This process is continued until as long as the Etruscans did not dissolve completely in the new Roman society. They should be lost in the III-II century.
Etruscan language was not part of the Indo European family, in addition, they hardly left a written evidence, and so most of the information about the people historians has received as a result of the excavation. The most striking examples of Etruscan art come from graves, which is why the discovery of a new tomb, the more aroused enthusiasm of archaeologists.
Tomb in the piece is far away from the famous Etruscan necropolis, perhaps, so it remained undisturbed. Burial structure consists of a corridor and a rectangular burial chamber. Log in at the last closed bivalve stone doors. Inside were two sarcophagi, four marble urns and grave goods varied. Unfortunately, the details of the findings is not enough.
It is known, however, that on both sarcophagi have inscriptions. In one of them, archaeologists have read the word Larissa. This is a common male name among the Etruscans. Inside the sarcophagus was a skeleton of a man, so is the name most likely belonged buried.
Further deciphering inscriptions and it is quite long as the researchers hope, will let you know more about buried for example, the names of his parents, and possibly age. The second sarcophagus is covered with painted plaster. On it, too, there is an inscription, but it is not yet deciphered.
