Company produces cards from elephant dung

dungA company in India is enjoying success with its own unique take on the traditional greetings card.

Ijender Shekhawat’s “Elephant Stamp” business produces greetings cards created from undigested grass and leaf fibers found in elephant droppings. Plans are going forward to process up to 30 tons of elephant dung every month in order to extract the necessary materials needed to produce the paper for the cards.

“Business is picking up and we are expanding,” he says. “People always worry about the smell, but believe me the cards smell as sweet as any other Valentine’s Day cards on the market.”

Creator ijender Shekhawat plans to process 30 tons of the gigantic faeces every month in order to produce special paper to make the cards. The owner from Jaipur, India will utilise the grass and leaf fibres that go through the elephant’s stomach without being digested to create his master faeces.
