The legendary Atlantis

20 Jul

Atlantis! We do not yet know, however, researchers have found another ancient city. In his literary works, “Timaeus” and “Critias”, Plato mentions the island-state of Atlantis, a rich prosperous country destroyed by natural disaster in one day and immersed in the water.
“After all, according to our records, the government put an end to your arrogance of countless military forces going to the conquest of the whole of Europe and Asia, and kept the way from the Atlantic sea. Across the sea in those days it was possible to cross, because there was still an island which lay before the strait which is called in your language Pillars of Hercules.
This island is greater than its size Libya and Asia put together, and then it was easy for travelers to move to other islands, and from the islands – on the whole opposite continent that covers a sea that is indeed worthy of this name (after all, the sea on this side of the said Strait is the only bay with a narrow passage in it, whereas the sea on the other side of the Strait is the sea in the strict sense, as well as the surrounding land is truly and rightly can be called the mainland). On this island, then, calling Atlantis, there was remarkable for the size and power of the kingdom, whose authority extended over the whole island, on many other islands and on the part of the continent, and beyond that, on this side of the strait have been seized up by Libya to Egypt and Europe up to Tirrenia. ” “But later, when he came to an unprecedented period of earthquake and flood, for one terrible day your whole military force was absorbed by the earth razverznuvsheysya; equally and Atlantis disappeared, plunging into the abyss. After that, the sea in places was up to the present day non-navigational and inaccessible due to shoaling caused by the huge amount of silt, which left behind a sunken island.
Atlantis – not only ancient state disappeared as a result of the disaster. One winter night in 373 BC City Helika and Bour in southern Greece in the Peloponnese were destroyed by an earthquake. Helika, who was one of the main centers of worship of the god Poseidon, sunk in the Gulf of Corinth. The eruption of Thera (Santorini) in the second millennium BC destroyed the Minoan culture developed at Akrotiri, Santorini and Crete.
Plato makes it clear that Atlantis was located in the Atlantic Ocean near the Pillars of Hercules. It is believed that the northern part of the pillars of Heracles Pillars is Gibraltar. South Colonnade – probably Jebel Musa in Morocco. Plato said that Atlantis – an island situated in front of the strait of the Pillars of Hercules, and that “one day and night … disappeared into the depths of the sea,” presumably about 9000 BC
Recently, a team of scientists from Spain’s Supreme Council for Scientific Investigation began exploring a swampy area of the Donana National Park in Andalusia in southern Spain, to find evidence of 3000 years of settlement, which could help determine the exact location of a small state Tartessos. The new assumption is that the modern city of Huelva – an ancient Tartessos. Greek scientists and Pausanias, Aristotle said that in Spain there was a river Tartessos, which flowed from the Pyrenees to the Pillars of Hercules in this area was the city with the same name. According to their theory, Tartessos – a civilization in southern Iberia, possibly, with its capital in the heart of the park. Swamp near the mouth of the Guadalquivir River, and on the opposite side of the river archaeological excavations have confirmed the existence of this culture. Aerial photos of the area revealed a large, round and rectangular structures. Glubokozemnaya radar, digital mapping, and underwater photography have been used to study sites.
Tartessos existed between the 11th and 7th centuries BC in the south of Spain, led the trade in gold and silver from local mines. The management structure was monarchical, culture and language, perhaps similar to the Celtic, which existed about 6,000 years. Civilization disappeared about 500 grams of BC. Oe.
Some researchers have suggested that this area – the likely location of sunken Atlantis. Plato wrote that Atlantis was an island with a diameter of five stages (925 m), which were drawn concentric circles, rings, which consisted of sushi and ditches with water. Dr Rainer Kuehne, who was looking for the legendary lost civilization, said that in 2004, aerial photography and Werner-Wickboldt-and showed concentric circles and two large structures in the Donana National Park. He believes that these structures are buried in the marshes of the park – a sanctuary of Poseidon and the sanctuary of Atlantis as described by Plato. Rainer Kuehne also suggests that Plato, who learned of Atlantis from Egyptian sources, possibly confusing words for the island and the coast.
Atlantis, he believes, is on the coast, and not on the island. Atlantis was known as the technology of metal working, and this area of Spain is rich in copper, tin and other metals.
Professor Richard Freund of the University of Hartford believes that it is a potential site of archaeological excavations in the Donana National Park is not only Tartessos, and Atlantis. According to him, Atlantis / Tartessos was destroyed by the tsunami. The works of these scholars published in National Geographic in the Special edition of “In Search of Atlantis.”
The documentary is one of the archaeologists, waving for the camera a little rude figure of Astarte, claiming that it is from nearby places. With its wheels in circles or headdress, it was like the Lady of Elche, the creation of the fourth century BC Iberian art from the city of Elche in the east of Spain.
Elche was a colony founded by the Greeks from Helika and transferred to Carthage (Phoenician colony). Was the guardian is made there or brought to the result of trade between the Phoenicians or tartesiantsami of Gadir 800 years BC? Tartesiantsy trading partners were the Phoenicians, who had a colony in nearby Gadir (Cadiz now). Was the age of Astarte figurines set THERMOLUMINESCENCE method, where the figures were recruited to the clay? Does the appearance of the figurines of Astarte other statuettes of a similar age? It also has some similarities with a small figurine of Astarte from Israel.
Yes, in line with the findings, there is a rectangular structure under a layer of marsh mud in the Donana National Park. Dark and bright spots indicate a large number of underground structures such as stone walls, or deeper in the soil type trench. “Rectangle” in the image has the correct geometrical shape. As for the concentric circles – maybe there’s something on the south side, but this can only say excavations. However, the excavations of the park are not only expensive but also potentially dangerous, as the layer of earth on the “structures” may be more than 6.1 meters thick.
Some have questioned whether all the underwater structures described by Plato of Atlantis were the works of human hands. For example, studies have estimated the Chinese stone anchors from California have not yet produced results, and the debate on this issue are continuing. The theory that an earthquake caused the displacement of large blocks of rock along the mainland is quite plausible.
Freund also notes the exits to the surface of methane in the marshes of the park. It is obvious that there was a large amount of organic matter before the mud has covered all of a sudden after the elements, and organic matter, remaining there, decomposed with the formation of methane. Of course, this is only speculation. Freund says only that a tsunami could quickly reach the territory and, thus, the remains of people, flora and fauna could be these organic substances.
Cancho Roano envisioned as a place to Tartese, which could be a palace or a place for rituals. Place, which dates from the sixth century BCE, which existed approximately 370 BC, of course, is evidence of religious activity with the use of altars, which were found during excavations. The square building was oriented to the east and surrounded by a moat and fortified walls.
Freund suggests that Cancho Roano – Memorial City, built as a tribute to the lost Atlantis. He also said that the petroglyphs found at the entrance to the stela portray the man guarding something made of concentric circles. Other scientists say the image – a warrior with a shield. Across the south-west Spain were found images of three concentric circles on the stone steles. They are funerary stelae. Circles, presumably, are a shield made of wood covered with leather or bronze.
DoƱana National Park was by far the state Tartessos, but whether this is Atlantis, we’ll never know. Even if Plato rightly points to the location of Atlantis, the Atlantis and Tartessos shared time in 8000 years. According to Plato, Atlantis was “covered berths, which were carved out of red, white and black rocks.” This description corresponds to the inner plains of Morocco, the Berbers, which is called “island of Atlantis.”
