According to new figures published in the journal PLoS ONE, Homo neanderthalensis disappeared for 37 thousand years ago. Summary of the research presented in a press release the University of Bristol.
The assumption that the Iberian Peninsula populations of Neanderthals persisted much longer than in other parts of the world, it has indicated paleontologist Zilyao Joao (Joao Zilhao) about 20 years ago. Since then, this hypothesis has become quite popular, but researchers disagree over when it disappeared last members of the species H. neanderthalensis.
