Italian experts from the University of Cagliari, Fr. Sardinia, found traces of a sunken ancient Phoenician port city Tarros. The port is located a few kilometers from the ruins of the city itself.
Archeologists found a wall of sandstone 100 m long and 4 m wide, reported ANSA. Berthage port extended to 225 m. For the entrance of ships here were provided 50-meter channels.
Tarros was founded in the VIII century BC It was an ancient Phoenician port, second in importance after Carthage. Later the city was inhabited by the ancient Romans, and in the X century AD. e. was destroyed by the Saracens.
